Middle School Information
In New York City, most students apply to middle school during their fifth grade year. Watch our video series and read this page to learn all about middle school admissions this year.

Happening Now
The middle school application is open!
Submit your application by December 1. You can apply in one of three ways:
- Online with MySchools.nyc(Open external link)––recommended! Your middle school welcome letter contains a unique account creation code that you can use to create a MySchools account (if you don't already have one) and access your personalized search and applications.
- If your child currently attends a NYC public school (DOE or charter), you can work with your child's current school to receive a copy of your welcome letter.
- If your child attends a private, independent, or parochial school you can visit a Family Welcome Center to receive a welcome letter.
- Through your current school counselor
- Through a Family Welcome Center
